CHONDROITIN SULFATE
Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is the main mucopolysaccharide
in the extracellular matrix and forms part of a
proteoglycan.
Its function is primarily structural:
because of its pronounced ability to attract water, it
provides for hydration of the cartilage. Hydration is
key to making cartilage strong and elastic during
compression and facilitates the flow of nutrients.
