| Overview of 2006 Bioibérica closed another year on a positive note and has begun 2007 with excellent prospects and plans for growth. The Joint Care Division grew and increased its pharmaceutical market share while achieving greater penetration on nutraceutical markets with the launch of new products. Other divisions that grew considerably in 2006 were the Pharma Division in Spain and the Veterinary Division at the domestic and international levels. But Bioibérica's good results were not only visible in the world of business, but also within the scope of science. In 2006, Bioibérica continued its firm support of research leading the field of the chondroprotection. The year 2006 was also one of investment and growth at the industrial level with a new heparin-manufacturing plant in Spain, a new cartilage-extraction plant in Brazil and a new laboratory for the process-engineering team. (top) CS Bio-Active Website A new website is launched for CS Bio-Active, Bioibérica's brand of chondroitin sulfate (CS). The aim of the website is to inform, educate and respond to questions from consumers and specialized doctors on osteoarthritis, chondroprotection and CS BioActive. The website allows specialists to consult treatment methods for osteoarthritis, and gives a detailed description of CS and the results of tests and experiments done with CS BioActive that demonstrate its efficacy, action mechanism, safety and tolerance. CS BioActive is the only brand used in such renowned studies as the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT). Besides this very complete library of documentation, the home page also contains the latest news on the subject of osteoarthritis, and also provides access to the most important publications through the Arthritis Journal Service. Consumers will find plenty of general information on the ailment, as well as full information on CS Bio-Active and the commercial products in which it is found. For more information http://www.csbioactive.com/ (top) New Heparin Plant Bioibérica recently expanded its production facilities in Olèrdola (40 km south of Barcelona) with a new plant for heparin extraction and purification. The new 1500-m2 plant is divided into the technical area and clean rooms, where two symmetrical production lines have been planned to ensure separate origins and maintain rigorous control to guarantee a safe, completely traceable product. The plant is also equipped with totally automated control systems that make it possible to drastically reduce solids handling and substantially increase batch size. This new expansion is yet another indication of Bioibérica's aim to satisfy the needs of its customers while always maintaining the highest quality and environmental standards, working in accordance with GMP and ensuring the traceability of its raw materials. launches new corporate website Bioiberica has carried out a complete redesign of its website with the aim of offering an updated, practical and useful site for customers, health professionals and the society as a whole. The new corporate website offers detailed information on the company and its products and focuses on the company's main strategic areas : Joint Health, Digestive Health and Plant Health. http://www.bioiberica.com/ New staff member Since the beginning of the year, Cristina Martínez has been working as the new Product Manager on the Joint Care Marketing team. With her scientific background and experience in R&D, she is responsible for the line of Bio-Active ingredients (chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid). Hyal-Joint Clinical Trial at the ACN Congress The results of a recent clinical trial on Hyal-Joint were made public at the latest congress of the American College of Nutrition (ACN). The randomized, double-blind trial concluded that Hyal-Joint can be beneficial for people with osteoarthritis of the knee, given that improvements in several aspects were observed, including improved mobility in accordance with the WOMAC Index and a reduction in pain as reflected in quality-of-life scales. |
