Bioiberica launches Prolivet®, a product to help maintain liver function in dogs and cats

  • It contains naturally occurring S-Adenosylmethionine, silybin and phosphatidylcholine complex and vitamin E, ingredients that contribute towards maintaining liver function.
  • It’s calculated that 20% of dogs and cats suffer liver problems and that, in 80% of cases, illnesses are chronic.
  • In this first phase the product shall be launched in Spain and Portugal and is available in two packs, according to the weight of the animal.

Bioiberica Companion Animal Health presents Prolivet®, a product to help maintain kiver function in dogs and cats. It contains naturally occurring S-Adenosylmethionine, silybin and phosphatidylcholine complex and vitamin E, all ingredients that contribute towards maintaining liver function.

Specifically, naturally occurring S-Adenosylmethionine participates in the formation of Glutathione, the most important defensive mechanism against oxidative stress since it protects the hepatocytes from deterioration and cell death.

Silybin neutralises free radicals, thus protecting the liver cells against oxidative damage. It also inhibits the adhesion of toxins that are involved in the inflammatory response.

Phosphatidylcholine has antifibrotic activity and increases the intestinal absorption of active substances.

With Prolivet® we intend to offer the clinical veterinarian a solution for cases of decreased liver function or as a supplement when there is hepatocellular stress. It is a product with natural ingredients that have proven effectiveness”, explains Alfonso Velasco, director of Bioiberica Companion Animal Health.

The product is now available in Spain and Portugal, in 100 and 200mg packs, according to the weight of the animal.
