CeraTrap® is a specific bait for capturing Mediterranean Fruit Fly (Ceratitis capitata).

What is it? What is it for?

CeraTrap® is an effective and 100% ecological product for controlling Med fruit fly.

The evaporation of CeraTrap® releases a series of volatile compounds, mostly amines and organic acids which attract the adult flies, especially females. CeraTrap® is applied inside the trap (fly trap or bottles with holes) to facilitate the release of volatile components and trap the flies.

Cera Trap® is certified for use in organic farming CAAE and by ECOCERT as input eligible for organic agriculture in the European Union. It doesn't contain pheromones or insecticidial in its composition or in its mode of use.

The main crops affected by Ceratitis capitata are citrus fruits and fruit trees. Of these, the following species in particular:

  • Citrus fruits: Orange, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit.
  • Fruit trees: Peach, apricot, medlar, nectarine, cherry, plum, avocado, blueberry, fig, kaki, cherimoya, strawberry, pomegranate, kiwi, mango, apple, pear, quince, pineapple, banana, etc.

 

Dose

The density of the fly traps per hectare will depend on the pest pressure, crop surface to be protected and strategy (monitoring, mass traping, perimeter strategy, etc.). For mass trapping the usual number of fly traps to place is between 70 and 120 for adequate pest control. Fly traps should be hung on the south side of the tree, between 1.5 and 2.2 meters high.

The amount of Cera Trap® to be used is beween 260-600mL per trap, depending on the type or trap used.

 

Application time

Place the traps 45 days before the commercial ripening time for the fruit.

Hydrolyzed proteins 5.5% p/p (59 g/l).
