Barcelona, April 19, 2012. Bioiberica Farma will present the results of its Arthrosischip Project during the World Congress on Osteoarthritis. Arthrosischip is a genetic, DNA microarray-based test that identifies patients with genetic predisposition to rapid knee osteoarthritis progression. This test, which requires only a saliva sample, will allow for a more personalized treatment of osteoarthritis patients, as well as reduce the need for prosthetic surgery. This study has involved more than 200 patients coming from 32 different Spanish hospitals, over a period of four years.

The presentation will take place next Wednesday, April 25th, at 10:00 am, during the press conference inaugurating the World Congress on Osteoarthritis. This year’s edition will focus on the latest advances in osteoarthritis research, and will be hosted by the Sociedad Española de Reumatología.

Besides, during OARSI 2012 Bioiberica Farma will host two specialized symposiums. The first one, to be held on Thursday, April 26th, at 11:00 am, will deal with personalized medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis. Among other subjects, osteoarthritis bio markers will be discussed, and Bioiberica will present the results of its Arthrosischip project to the scientific community.

The second one, to be held on Friday, April 27th, at 12:20 am, will focus on the impact of synovitis in osteoarthritis progression, and the mechanism of action of chondroitin sulphate in inflammatory processes.

Below you will find the symposium programme listing the experts’ panel of OARSI 2012 -they will be at your disposal for in-depth interviews. During the coming days, we will issue more detailed information in relation to the papers to be read at the congress.
