On the occasion of the 7th Muscle Tech Network Workshop and the 4TH ECOSEP Congress 2015

Muscular injuries are the most frequent injuries among sportspersons (30%). This means that a professional football team suffers an average of 12 muscular injuries per season, which represents more than 300 days of sport injuries according to data of the UEFA and FIFA. Furthermore, musculoskeletal diseases, disorders and injuries affect a large group of people, from senior people to sportspersons, children, teenagers, etc.

To provide an answer to this problem, in 2009 the FC Barcelona foundation and the Leitat Foundation created MuscleTech Network, a network for the knowledge and support of research in the prevention, diagnosing and treatment of muscular and tendin injuries. In 2015, biotech company Bioibérica, joined this initiative by signing a two-year collaboration agreement for the joint research of muscular, tendon and ligament injuries, and for the development of preventive measures, new treatments and shorter recovery times.
