Chondroitin sulfate

For the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis and of joint discomfort
What is it?

Chondroitin sulfate is a glycosaminoglycan sulfate composed of a disaccharide chain of N-acetylgalactosamine and N-glucuronic acid, alternately.

Is an important component in improving the tissues of vertebrates and invertebrates and is present mainly in those that have a large extracellular matrix, such as those that form the connective tissues of the body: cartilage, skin, blood vessels, as well as the ligaments and the tendons.

How does it work?

In degenerative joint diseases, such as osteoarthritis, deterioration and loss of the joint cartilage occurs. A key phase in the degenerative process in osteoarthritis is the loss of proteoglycan (which is formed by chondritin sulfate) of the cartilage and the exposure of its collagen network to poor mechanical functioning.

Chondroitin is considered to be a Symptomatic Slow Acting Drug for Osteoarthritis (SYSADOA), and is currently recommended by national and international therapeutic guidelines.

Numerous clinical trials demonstrate that it reduces joint pain and increases mobility.

Bioiberica also offers neutraceutical quality chondroitin sulphate which is predominantly used as a main ingredient in veterinary and neutraceutical formulations.
