Itziar Larrauri, Head of Pharmaceutical Ingredients Production, is the protagonist of a new session of our BioVibes, an initiative to get to know the Bioiberica family better through first-person portraits of employees from all our departments. With nearly 18 years at the company, Itziar tells us about her day-to-day managing pharmaceutical production, why 'it's better to laugh than cry' when facing unexpected situations, and how she has evolved alongside Bioiberica over nearly two decades.
In production 'there's always something you've planned one way that turns out differently'. This reality turns her day-to-day into a constant problem-solving exercise, where the experience accumulated over nearly two decades enables her to anticipate.

Itziar Larrauri has been with Bioiberica for nearly 18 years, during which time she has experienced a complete transformation: from being someone who joined the company 'without really knowing what it did', to becoming a key player in pharmaceutical ingredients production. As Head of Production, Itziar orchestrates a complex process where planning is essential, but adaptability proves equally crucial.
'We plan what needs to be manufactured based on the orders we receive from the commercial team', explains Itziar. But in production, as she herself acknowledges, 'there's always something you've planned one way that turns out differently. You have to see them coming'. This reality turns her day-to-day into a constant problem-solving exercise, where the experience accumulated over nearly two decades enables her to anticipate unexpected situations.
Her philosophy when facing challenges is clear and practical: 'I try to laugh, yes. In fact, it's better to laugh than cry'. This attitude not only reflects her character, but also an effective way of managing the pressure inherent to a role where she coordinates multiple variables: from commercial requirements to the technical particularities of manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients.
What began as a job opportunity at an unknown company has become a fundamental part of her life. 'In the end, Bioiberica has accompanied me through quite a large part of my life', acknowledges Itziar. 'I have a job I enjoy because I'm comfortable with my colleagues and with what I do'.
Itziar's satisfaction is not limited to her personal trajectory. Looking to the future, her wish is clear: 'I hope that Bioiberica keeps advancing as it is now and that I get to see it. That I'm still here too'. A statement that summarises the connection between her professional development and the company's growth, and that reflects the commitment of someone who has found in Bioiberica not just a workplace, but a project to believe in and grow with.
