BioVibes: Domingo Cubo

Domingo Cubo, Control Systems Technician, is the protagonist of a new session of our BioVibes, an initiative to get to know the Bioiberica family better with first-person portraits of employees from all our departments. With 40 years at the company, Domingo tells us about his day-to-day resolving technical emergencies, why he decided to extend his professional career by one more year, and how he has evolved alongside Bioiberica over four decades.

Putting out fires

"The power has gone out somewhere or we have to go start some machine because we need to get it running. My day-to-day in electrical maintenance is like this, putting out fires".

"I'm a Control Systems Technician at Bioiberica and I've been with the company for 40 years," Domingo explains with the calmness that comes from four decades of experience. His job consists of keeping everything running, always being ready to solve any technical issue that may arise in the facilities.

Firefighter Domingo

The nature of his work requires a quick and effective response to any incident: "The day-to-day of electrical maintenance: the power has gone out somewhere or we have to go start some machine because we need to get it running. That's my routine: putting out fires." This capacity for immediate reaction has earned him an affectionate nickname among his colleagues: "Firefighter Domingo, yes sir."

Despite the pressure that working constantly with emergencies can entail, Domingo highlights the good work environment: "The atmosphere is good, it's cordial and people have to collaborate." This collaboration is fundamental in a job where every minute counts and where team support is essential.

Retirement? One more year!

After 40 years of experience, Domingo is close to retirement, but his commitment to Bioiberica has led him to make a significant decision: "I have very little left until retirement. It was less, but I've decided to extend it by one more year." This decision reflects his dedication and the satisfaction he finds in his work.

With prospects of enjoying his free time, Domingo admits with a laugh: "I have hobbies, I'm sure I'll get distracted more than I should, for sure." His colleagues sum him up with affection: "Domingo? A legend!"

Four decades of evolution

Looking back, Domingo reflects on his career at Bioiberica: "The evolution from when I was that 25-year-old kid to this person I am now at 65 has been brutal growth, personal and overall, with a lot of effort from everyone."

His vision of work is deeply balanced: "I owe everything to Bioiberica, in this sense. And I've also given everything from my side." This reciprocal relationship, where the company and the employee grow together over four decades, exemplifies the values that have allowed us to reach our 50th anniversary with committed and experienced teams.
