The pet division presented the latest therapeutic advances in the treatment of joint diseases to an audience of expert veterinarians

On March 8, under the auspices of the Master’s program in Pet Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Madrid Complutense University, Jordi Flores, Product Manager at Bioiberica Veterinary, read a presentation entitled “Chondroprotection, Therapeutic Advances in the Treatment of Osteoarthritis and Synovitis: the Importance of Taking Care of the Membrane and Synovial Fluid”. In his presentation, Flores talked about the close relationship between cartilage, subchondral bone and synovial membrane in the osteoarthritis process, and how the inflammation of the synovial membrane might affect the degradation of the cartilage, affecting in turn the remodeling of subchondral bone.

Furthermore, on March 18th, during a veterinary rehabilitation course held at Forvet, a center specializing in veterinary training, Flores gave a talk on joint pathology, its physiopathology, and new therapeutic advances.

Joint issues significantly affect the mobility of cats and dogs, quite often causing pain and limping. Reduced mobility implies a reduction in the arrival of nutrients from the synovial membrane to the cartilage, thus causing a reduction in movement range and functionality.

Much of the research and development efforts of Bioiberica’s Veterinary Division are focused on developing solutions for the management of osteoarthritis in pets, thus helping veterinarians to improve their daily clinical practice.
